American Petroleum Institute to absorb smaller America's Natural Gas Alliance in 2016; ANGA's Durbin to take new API role America's Natural Gas Alliance will become part of the American Petroleum Institute early next year in a merger that will give the oil and natural gas industries a unified voice in Washington, D.C. The two associations announced the merger Nov. 18 after months of media speculation that a deal was in the works. ANGA will officially be absorbed into API on Jan. 1, 2016.
